Headmade Materials staffs advisory board with industry experts

Wuerzburg, September 30, 2020 - Headmade Materials, developer of the metal 3D printing process Cold Metal Fusion (Metal SLS),  strengthens its strategic knowledge and brings industry expertise to the company by installing an advisory board. The innovative process developed by the Würzburg-based start-up enables 3D printing of metal parts for series production using low-cost 3D printers available on the market. The advisory board will strategically support Headmade Materials in scaling up the technology as well as market and customer development.

Since its constituent meeting in August 2020, the advisory board has been supporting Headmade Materials in both strategic and technical matters as it continues to build and expand its business. "We are very proud that with Dr. Eberhard Duffner, Joachim Zettler, Dr. Bernhard Wiedemann and Robert Gallenberger, we have been able to convince experienced industry experts of our company and thus establish a top-class advisory board," says Christian Staudigel, CEO and Co-Founder of Headmade Materials. "Thanks to the extensive network of the advisory boards as well as their many years of expertise in the fields of additive manufacturing, powder metallurgy and entrepreneurship, they can play a key role in the strategic development and positioning of Headmade Materials.”

With its Cold Metal Fusion technology, the Würzburg-based company combines the advantages of powder metallurgy with the opportunities of 3D printing and disrupts the world of additive manufacturing of metal parts. "Their novel process opens up a whole new range of parts for additive manufacturing and now enables 3D printing users to produce metal parts in higher volumes. They have created a 3D printing solution with robust processes that will permanently shape the possibilities of metal 3D printing," says Joachim Zettler.

Heart of the Cold Metal Fusion 3D printing process is the feedstock, which consists of metal powder and a polymeric binder that can be laser-sintered to form green parts. The green part is then debinded and sintered to produce a metal part, similar to metal powder injection molding. Dr. Eberhard Duffner believes that "Headmade Materials' solution is better than other sinter-based 3D printing processes at bridging the gap between powder bed processes for prototypes on the one hand and powder metallurgical processes such as metal powder injection molding for high volume production on the other. A major advantage is the unique binder system, which allows the feedstock to be processed on already mature equipment"

With the move to its new premises in autumn 2020, Headmade Materials will have the opportunity to further drive the focus on the development of the company and to use the expertise of the advisory board to deploy resources correctly. "The founders Christian Fischer and Christian Staudigel have already managed to build a powerful team. All the more reason for me to be pleased that I can now also contribute my many years of experience in the field of additive manufacturing and in supporting start-ups," says Dr. Bernhard Wiedemann. Of course, Robert Gallenberger is also proud "that we were able to win Dr. Eberhard Duffner, Joachim Zettler and Dr. Bernhard Wiedemann as advisors, who contribute both comprehensive know-how and experience. I am already looking forward to the work on the advisory board and the positive contribution to the development of the company".
